Transgender Day of Remembrance
Today marks the 8th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder in 1998 kicked off the Remembering Our Dead web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Since then, the event has grown to encompass memorials in dozens of cities across the world.Jennifer Burke provides links to powerful videos, blogs and web sites that look at gender-based crimes, current laws and studies.

Thanks for mentioning this special occasion, Peterson. I'll be participating in a short march and a vigil for it in Northampton tonight. Should be interesting. And sad. But educational all the same.

It´s a shame we don´t have this day in Sweden .. but it has been in my thoughts today.
anna: we dont have this day but we do try to get some eyes to open. May 24th we have a rememberance day in sthlm, at the grave of Kiann and just last saturday RFSL sthlm had its first big trans day.

Alex! Ah, we´re getting there. And we are participating in IDAHO, may 17th. At least we did this year ´cos me and some friends performed at a "manifestation". And I´m right there with you wondering about being limited, although I am not so frequent as you :)

Anna, what's IDAHO, other than a US state that produces lots of potatoes?
